Must-Know Facts about Heat Protectant Spray + My TOP Thermal Protection Hair Products

Does your hair also sometimes look like a… haystack? Does it tend to be stiff, dull-looking and unmanageable and a dryer or straightener only makes it drier and, generally, worse? Time for changes! Believe it or not, my problems were gone as soon as I reached for a heat protectant spray for hairstyling. A good one will protect but also smooth, beautify and even nourish your tresses. I’ve got a few gems and want to tell you about them. Keep reading!

What is a heat protectant?

Most of them are spray-on – you spritz them on wet hair before blow-drying, curling, etc. to shield it against damage from a hot airstream, flat-iron, curler or any other hot device you use. On top of that, such a spray manages to guard the strands against the sunlight and makes sure they don’t lose essential moisture because of dry indoor air. A good heat protectant reduces the damaging effect of UV rays, plus nourishes and beautifies the hair: adds smoothness and shine, and tames frizz. Now I’m wondering how I could do without it for so many years!

My Best Heat Protectants for Hair

#1 Nanoil Heat Protectant Spray

Are you looking for the best thermal protection spray? Here you go! Nanoil is the one! I love it because I’m sure my hair is fully safe during a heat styling session, plus it stays smooth, luminous and very soft all day. The product is lightweight and there’s no problem with refreshing the hair during the day or combing it out (some heat protectants leave the hair unbrushable!). Nanoil Heat Protectant Spray is packed with beneficial silk proteins to intensely smooth the hair and stop dryness, helping keep it healthy and frizz-free. This is my beloved heat protectant, no doubt about it.

#2 Bumble And Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Heat/UV Protective Primer

I like it because it’s a really cool product for the summertime. It includes vegetable oils which act as sunscreen and prevent loss of moisture, plus has the most beautiful scent – tropical, perfectly fits the summer vibe, and stays long on hair. Bumble And Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Heat/UV Protective Primer is best when I use it after bathing in the sea – I spritz it on wet strands. I just wish it was cheaper…

#3 Balmain Thermal Protection Spray

This spray is lighter despite having oils too. You don’t need to worry about weighed-down strands. Balmain Thermal Protection Spray will last you long because just three sprays are enough to cover long hair evenly. It has a strong nourishing effect and is good for protecting against heat damage, plus leaves the hair smoother and softer. It used to be my top pick but now I choose Nanoil – it’s better on my hair and has a better price.

#4 Ouai Heat Protection Spray

This one is a good option for very fragile and thin hair. Ouai Heat Protection Spray is easy to apply all over the hair, leaving a featherlight coating on its surface. Good news: there’s no way it’s gonna weigh your strands down! Naturally, you should avoid the scalp during application. Otherwise the hair won’t be as fluffy and voluminous. Overall, it’s a great heat protectant which smooths and tames frizzy hair. Negatives? The spray costs a lot and won’t last you long.

#5 Kemon AND Heat Spray 13

A big bottle, good price, and quite good effects are the things I like about Kemon AND Heat Spray 13. It’s okay but leaves my hair a bit stiff – maybe I didn’t work out the proper amount to use. There’s one sure thing: this spray protects from high temperatures and is great if we want to stop dryness and frizz. It can be used on dry or wet hair. Kemon AND Heat Spray 13 contains ferulic acid and grape seed flavonoids which are powerful antioxidants and natural sunscreen. The bottle didn’t last me long.

These were the products I highly recommend. Have you picked one for trial? I’ll be happy if you post a comment. 🙂
